Joanne Boyle is a visual artist and art educator working and living in Ireland. Boyle’s practice is studio-based and rooted in painting. Being materials led, Boyle’s paintings explore embodiment through the mimetic nature of substance, the stuff of paint. Boyle utilises hands-off techniques to play with loss of control, through procedure and chance.

Boyle has exhibited throughout Ireland and the UK, in both group and solo shows. Boyle completed two years of Turps Correspondence Course, London(2021)(2022) and is a graduate of IADT Visual Arts Practice (2009). Boyle was awarded the Arts Council’s Agility Award (2022)(2021), Artists Award Scheme, Wicklow Arts Office(2021), RHA microgrant(2020) RCSI Research Residency (2017), Visual Art Workspace Award, Arts Council(2016) Awarded residency Cill Rialaig(2015) Residency at The Guesthouse Cork(2014), Studio & Mentorship award from DLR Arts Office(2009) Boyle was a founding member of Outpost Studios,2014.
